Wow, i just read this a few minutes ago, and had so many questions. I did a bit of research about this security key.
http://www.yubico.com/about/welcome/
Now all comes down to: Whats the aiming of Community ID with this approach? why now?, and why yubikey and no other key?(e.g. http://swekey.com/index.php?sel=home, http://www.trustbearer.com/).

It was requested several times

why now?,

Why not now? What is wrong on our roadmap?

and why yubikey and no other key?(e.g. http://swekey.com/index.php?sel=home, http://www.trustbearer.com/).

We need to choose on product. Maybe in the future we will support also other keys, who knows

I am looking for a solution that will use Yubikey as currently it is a standard use in my company. Yubikey in my opinion provides a better IT Management and User Experience. Also as a side note a lot of companies in the energy industry and defense industry are looking for a OpenID Implementation that uses Yubikey.

We are working on it and the next release from C-ID will be the 2.0.0.
